Ever since i was a child the word ‘supernatural’ would give me an adrenaline rush, exploring the unexplored and noticing the strangest things in the dark has always been my forte because apparently they come for you after midnight. Our family has a history with paranormal activities so I’m quite used to hearing people say, they saw a shadow or someone is whispering things. If you’re done with the monotony of life and are up for adding some adventure to it then there are a few places you need check out.
  1. Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan
Bhangarh Fort is located on the way to Alwar and Jaipur in Rajasthan in India. The town was established in 1573 during the rule of Bhagwant Das. Bhangarh diminished in population, and since the famine of 1783, the town has remained uninhabited. . Entry to Bhangarh is legally prohibited between sunset and sunrise. A signboard posted by ASI (Archaeological Survey of India), which is a Government of India organization, specifies the instructions. The story which led to the doom of the palace tells the tale of a magician who fell in love with the princess; he knew that this wasn’t going to happen. Being quite the master of dark magic, he decided to cast a spell on her to make her surrender to him. However, the princess learned of his plans and found a way to kill him. Before his death, however, the magician cast a dark spell on the palace ‘causing the paranormal activities.
  1. Kuldhara Village, Rajasthan-
The Kuldhara community is popularly known as the deserted ghost village that has been abandoned since the 1800s. It is said to carry a curse of the villagers who vanished from there overnight, after having lived there for over seven centuries. Tales of this mystery include the fact that Salim Singh, the minister of the state, visited this village and fell in love with the beautiful daughter of chieftain and wanted to marry her. The minister threatened the villagers by saying that if they did not marry the girl to him, he would levy huge taxes. The chief of the village along with other 84 villages decided to leave the premises to protect the girl’s honour . Nobody noticed them leaving, they just vanished, cursing the village and whosoever tries to inhabit the land. Till date nobody has dared to reside in that village.
  1. Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad-
Ramoji has been one of the biggest film cities in the country, it has been surrounded by hotels which have registered many paranormal activities. Starting with the lights which kept on falling off, the light men- who sit with the views on top have been pushed so many times, and many have had grievous injuries. It was noticed that women were more targeted than men. Women reported an invisible force tearing their clothes off; some said they felt someone knock their washroom doors while the rooms remain locked from the inside. The food left outside also get scattered around the room and strange marks are left on the mirrors.
  1. Jatinga, Assam- Suicidal Birds 
Jatinga is located at a distance of 9 kms from Haflong, the district headquarters. Take a bus ride to Haflong from Guwahati and from there on you can take local conveyance to reach this mystic village. Most of the migratory birds visiting the area never leave the town, dropping dead for no reason on the streets. The case gets even more inscrutable as these birds always plummet to their death between 06:00 p.m. to 09:30 p.m. on the moonless nights of September and October. These mass suicides only occur on a specific 1 mile by 600 feet strip of land and this phenomenon is said to have occurred year after year without a break for more than a century.  None of the theorists has yet been able to prove any of the theories behind this phenomenon, though, which is why it continues to haunt and intrigue the minds of the residents and travelers just the same.
  1. Terra Verra, Bangalore
This old, deserted mansion wears the crown of the most haunted place in Bangalore. It was built in the year 1943 by EJ Vaj, who gifted it to his two daughters - Dolce and Vera. The story took a brutal turn on a fateful day in 2002 when Dolce, a piano teacher, was stabbed to death in the house; her body was buried in the premises by an unidentified attacker. Vera moved out of the house soon after, leaving the place as it was. People soon began to witness ghostly apparitions in the house, including songs being played on the piano. A bunch of ghostbusters also reportedly found an inverted cross and headless statue of Jesus and Mary inside the house. The building was razed to the ground some years back, yet nobody dares to venture near this area

      6.National Library of India, Kolkata

Besides the rich collection of books, The National Library, Kolkata is also known for its ghost stories. At the time of its renovation, twelve labours lost their lives in an accident, Sounds like some grist for the rumour mill.  The stories of unnatural death of a student while searching for books and a lot more. The guards often fear to take up the nights shifts. It is also said that the footsteps of the Governor’s wife can be still heard.

        7.Dow Hill Kurseong, West Bengal

The Victoria Boys High School is believed to be the place where spirits reside. People opine that sound of footsteps emanating from the school can be heard even when the school is closed for the three long months from December to March. Countless people have been found murdered in the forests near the school. In fact, many woodsmen who visit the forest have reported seeing a headless boy who suddenly appears and then disappears into the woods Persistent enquiries by the tourists and researchers only add to the list of unanswered questions. 

       8.The Lambi Dehar Mines, Uttarakhand

 A few years ago there were mines and lime quarries in this area but they were shut down following innumerable truck accidents and irregularities in safety precautions. It is estimated that more than 50,000 workers lived in this area but a lot of them died a painful death due to lung diseases caused by improper mining.  Locals believe that a witch walks in the forests at night and has claimed many lives.
